- Double-weighted statement
- This 110,000-word book was the result of 13 years research, requiring visits to c.20 archives at multiple locations across the UK and the US (funded by three British Academy Small Research Grants and an AHRC Early Career Fellowship). Research was grounded in repeated visits to Cambridge University Library to read issues of Time and Tide (the magazine was published weekly over 20 years and is not digitized) and necessitated gaining familiarity with several disciplines beyond Clay’s specialisms in feminist and literary studies, including socialist history, international relations and religion, film, music and theatre history and criticism.
