- This research provided the methodological underpinning for analysis of the resilience of the UK’s electricity transmission system (£1.4M RESNET project (EP/I035781/1), in 10.1109/TPWRS.2016.2641463; 10.1109/JSYST.2017.2700791) that informed National Grid’s Adaptation Reporting Power submission to HM Government (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/566151/climate-adrep-national-grid.pdf). Used by the House of Lords Select Committee’s review of electricity system resilience (https://www.parliament.uk/documents/lords-committees/science-technology/Resilienceofelectricityinfrasrtucture/Resilienceofelectricityinfrastructureevidence.pdf). Extended with a £161k NERC Innovation award (NE/N012852/1) and applied to more complex distribution networks with Northern Powergrid (http://nerc.ciria.org/assets/pdf/24_Dawson%20-%20storm%20risk%20infrastructure.pdf). Subsequently, Dawson appointed Lead Author for the Cities, Settlements and Infrastructure section, UN IPCC 6th Assessment Report. The methodology is being internationalised in China and Malaysia (£1M GCRF TERSE project (EP/R030294/1)).
