- The writing of Gothic Antiquity spanned a ten-year period, and was supported at various stages of its completion by 3 institution-funded sabbaticals and an AHRC Leadership Fellowship (2015–17). Standing at 190 000 words in length, the monograph comprises a preface, 6 lengthy chapters and an extended introduction and conclusion. Interdisciplinary by nature, the argument forges connections between several discrete areas of scholarly enquiry, including Gothic Studies, architectural history, heritage, historiography and the history of art. The book is based on extensive archival research carried out in the UK and USA, and brings to light a number of overlooked sources.
