- This research proposes, for the first time, a comprehensive framework for the design optimization of changeable products, where a product's capacity to adapt to its environment is fully considered at design time. Many complex engineered products include changeable elements that could benefit from the framework e.g. the linked optimization problems of hardware design and calibration/control for vehicle powertrains. This research forms the core component of Salomon's doctoral thesis, which was published as a monograph in Springer's "outstanding PhD research" series.
