- Volumes 21-23 of The Brownings' Correspondence, covering the years 1854-6, represent the product of several years of primary research undertaken with the aid of large grants from both AHRC and NEH. The research process involved the location and transcription of the poets’ correspondence for the years in question, the identification of individuals named or addressed in the letters, and the tracing of literary, cultural and historical allusions and references. The resulting volumes document in meticulous detail the lives and experiences of two major nineteenth-century poets during the years in which they published some of their most important work.
