- The initial analysis of Barnard’s star by data combination was made in Tuomi, Jones et al. 2014, MNRAS, 441, 1545. The discovery of a signal in Barnard’s star by the same authors was rejected from MNRAS as a separate paper, the review cited 'extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence'. In January 2014, Jones got a Leverhulme Trust grant to support Tuomi and Anglada-Escude. This led to the formation of the RedDots consortium including the CARMENES instrument for which Jones was part of instrument design reviews. Jones's contribution to this paper runs through many versions of proposals, analysis and papers.
