- This is a 50,000-word book resulting from a collaborative research project between a historian and a design engineer over four years. It is the first such interdisciplinary approach of its kind in the field and as such required extensive and challenging work in terms of (1) designing and delivering an effective methodology (2) working across a wide range of primary sources. These included design studio / drawing records and a wide range of archival materials. This material had to be assessed using a four-stage methodology designed by the co-authors which would contribute to a range of disciplines.
