- Popescu provided the theoretical expertise in deriving star formation rates through radiative transfer methods and was fundamental in designing the project: from sample selection to the modelling of the star formation and star formation histories of satellite spiral galaxies. Popescu directly co-supervised the first author (who was a PhD student at the time) via Skype meetings or during her long-term scientific visits at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics. She also co-wrote the paper jointly with the first and second authors.
