- This output is a 100,000-word, single-authored monograph which is the first academic work to consider the military history of the Second Scottish War of Independence (1332-1357). It draws upon extensive research of archival primary sources from the UK and provides new examination of known materials which have lacked the focus on Scotland and Scottish detail that these sources preserve. This work provides an original examination of conduct in war in the mid-fourteenth century, placed within the wider context of medieval warfare in this period, in particular in relation to the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453).
