- The book provides the first study about the changing status and function of Arab journalists given the new realities of reporting in the digital age. This is a collaborative and empirical study drawing on the authors’ extensive research on Arab journalism; the analysis provides critical insight into the way social and new media have been integrated in the newsrooms. The study contributes to Journalism Studies and it sheds new light on journalistic practices in state-controlled communication environments, while challenging the over-optimistic claims about the role of digital technologies following the Arab uprisings in 2011.
