- The paper fills an important gap in our understanding of the low-level vision: how the level of adaptation is pooled across the visual field. Such a model of local adaptation is also important for many practical applications, some shown in the paper. The work is cited in computer science and vision science. It was presented both at SIGGRAPH'15 (for the computer science community) and at the European Conference on Visual Perception 2015 (for the vision science community).
