- Double-weighted statement
- Based upon four years of research into a previously unexplored and unpublished large archive of complex material in the Victoria & Albert Museum, this book revealed hitherto unknown links between collecting spaces and exhibitionary practice. Its primary argument arose from extended critical analysis of this archive as well as extensive secondary materials in several disciplines including archaeology, museum studies, and art history. The methodology further encompassed both personal biographies of over 100 individuals and also collecting and collection histories across regional, temporal and geographical classifications, resulting in a new interdisciplinary and globalized history of art world practice in London.
