- The study generated a unique gene expression dataset from children’s skin biopsies which helped identify novel pathways in the disease. It was the first application of Direct RNA sequencing to human skin. We made the processed data and analytical code public via github (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3903509) resulting in a collaboration with the O’Shaughnessy lab (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jaci.2016.09.052). The data can also be queried by a public Shiny application (https://chriscole.shinyapps.io/drsexpr), since February 2019 due to a request, which is accessed several times a month. This study was the basis, in part, of a successful Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship for the senior author.
