- This book represents the outcome of sustained research over 3 years. It brings together different perspectives drawn from political thinking across the continent of Africa, and from across different time periods. The research involved an extensive process of archival investigation. Its contribution to both IR and political theory has been noted by the awards panel for the BISA L. H. M. Ling Outstanding First Book Prize for which it received an Honourable Mention: "This is an important and impressive… and innovative book that should make a significant contribution to the Kantian political theory literature and to IR.”
