- This paper describes the design of a novel method to engage citizens in discussions about city planning issues, where NFC technology and a prototype digital app enabled citizens to discover media in and about locations. The paper derives future requirements for the development of digital tools to support engagement with planning issues and civic advocacy, which have since been widely cited in the developing field of Digital Civics. This work was a cross-sector collaboration with creative SMEs (Amber Films, Amblr) and third sector organisation (Northern Architecture) and directly contributed to the successful application for EPSRC Digital Economy Research Centre EP/M023001/1.
