- Work presents a system of dielectric lenses mounted around a phased array antenna. By employing additional lens gain, at wide steering angles, we were able to reduce the scan loss to 2.39dB. The paper provides a detailed design procedure, for the antenna system and a new scheme for exciting the array antenna elements, which minimises unwanted lobes. The paper originated from research undertaken, by a PhD student, in support of the EPSRC grant: EP/P008402/1 (£673,436, 2016-2020). The research inspired ideas included within a new EPSRC proposal. The student joined Filtronic in May 2020 (Tim.Hill@filtronic.com) and continues working on mmWave.
