- Additional information
- The publication is the result of 15 years of research (including EU CRAFT Project G5ST-CT-2000-50029
EPSRC EP/H050116/1) dedicated to coatings for orthopaedic implants in collaboration with Zimmer Biomet and led by Hovsepian and Ehiasarian. The materials, nanoscale multilayer architecture and HIPIMS deposition technology were developed through EPSRC, EU and Industrial funding. Zimmer Biomet licensed the technology for £300k and funded 3 PhD studentships at Sheffield Hallam University. Zimmer Biomet also realised a multi-million coating development programme, the largest within the group. Ionbond UK licensed the technology and set in operation the UK’s largest HIPIMS production facility in UK in 2015
