- Philosophies du voyage is the culmination of almost a decade’s research into the topic of travel from French-speaking countries into England in the 17-18th centuries. This exhaustive work of over 120,000 words is based on over 70 primary printed and manuscript accounts collected from over a dozen libraries over 5 countries, almost half of which were previously unknown to scholarship. Additionally, the multidisciplinary nature of the work, along with the requirement to develop a conceptual framework for the study of all mobility phenomena added considerably to the research effort.
