- This book was based on eight years of intensive fieldwork across 10 local districts in Jakarta with (c.200) individual, household and institutional interviews across sectors, including local government officials, neighbourhood authorities, religious, educational and social leaders, as well as planning and social welfare ministries. Investigations also included extensive participant observation of multiple deliberative fora related to everyday local governance and urban planning at the metropolitan level, as well as long-term embedded participation with the predominant urban social movements.
