- The Language Question under Napoleon is a longer-form output (307pp.) that demonstrates sustained research effort. Research for the book involved the collection and analysis of a large body of material, specifically of a wide range of Primary sources consulted in numerous National and Departmental archives across France. The issue of language as it relates to Napoleonic imperialism and French state formation is investigated in considerable depth and in relation to the various contexts of different social domains both in ‘Old France’ and the newly annexed territories.
