- Animated transitions are fundamental in data visualisation for clarifying changes between views. Previous approaches for computing animated transitions allow little support for transition design. This approach enables free sketching by the user of point cluster trajectories through the novel application of vector field design applied scalably to all points in the data set.
The paper has received two significant honours. It was invited for presentation at IEEE VIS 2018 (top visualisation conference) and then was one of four papers of IEEE VIS (out of 100) invited for presentation in a special session of high-impact visualisation papers at ACM SIGGRAPH 2019.
