- This paper demonstrates the impacts of previously neglected harmonics interactions between power interface units of renewable generators and the distribution networks. The knowledge contributed to successful consultancy project (by Imperial College London and Powervault Ltd; total project cost: ~£626K) on active control and power quality risks assessment of photovoltaics and energy storage units in utility low voltage networks. The project won the Energy Storage Award in 2018 British Renewable Energy Award. The paper has also strongly encouraged the development of robust power converters in the specialism. The findings were part of presentations at 2019 IEEE Invited Lecture Series in India.
