- Until recently, smart devices formed a small number of the home networked nodes and as such, occupied a small bandwidth. Recently, there is an almost exponential growth of these devices that, due to IP v.4 shortage, are configured to use IP v.6. Accordingly, there is a substantial increase on the traffic generated, something that necessitates the need for optimised algorithms to govern such low-range communications. This paper suggests a more efficient use of MAC parameters that results in reducing collisions and increasing the throughput by 52-63% while simultaneously reducing delays by 54-65%
