- This 362-page work of multi-disciplinary research (mainly theology, philosophy, and musicology) offers a new paradigm for interpreting Wagner’s Ring cycle and for theological enquiry generally. The linchpin for the study is approaching the Ring in the light of the composer’s Jesus of Nazareth sketches, confirming that the artwork does address questions of Christian theology. The research was supported by a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship.
