- Music and exile in Francoist Spain (216 pages) is a comprehensive study of the connections and exchanges that Spanish exiled composers maintained with Francoist Spain. It focuses on seven composers (with shorter mentions of several more) to draw broad-ranging conclusions that challenge existing understandings of music under Francoism as disconnected from its immediate past. It addresses in detail a number of Spanish major composers (Rodolfo Halffter, Salvador Bacarisse, Adolfo Salazar).
