- This 150-page book draws upon interdisciplinary literature on the socio-economic, political and cultural dynamics of poverty, journalism practice and media-third sector relations combined with extensive empirical analysis. This includes content analysis of poverty reporting in English and Welsh language media (n=1498) across print, broadcast and online, and in-depth interviews with media and non-profit sector professionals (n=35), combined with ongoing collaborations with practitioners developed over 3-years. The study connects local poverty news to its global contexts - the structural forces, in Europe and internationally that condition lives and livelihoods, connecting with the reporting of Brexit and its potentially huge economic consequences.
