- This scholarly edition of Haddon's journals, includes an extensive introduction, over 400 footnotes, 300 images and a comprehensive bibliography. It is based on meticulous archival and collections-based research and two fieldtrips to the Torres Strait. Dr Anita Herle initiated the research project and was the lead editor and author. Haddon's canonical expeditions generated an enormous amount of data which continues to be a crucial resource for scholars and Islanders today. Recording Kastom will be foundational for future research in the region as well as a significant contribution to academic and colonial histories. Its production is a model for how anthropological archives can collaboratively and imaginatively be published today.[
