- This 90,000-word monograph provides a new, interdisciplinary perspective on urban change in mid-century Britain. It is the product of five years of research and writing, and draws on research in six different archives, including an in-depth analysis of seven major Whitehall departments, correspondence, records of meetings, notes, and reports. The primary source base also included every issue of three major journals from 1930 to 1952 (100 articles from these journals are cited in the book), novels and photography.
