- This is an extended version of a conference paper which won a best paper award at the IEEE Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation Conference 2011 in Toulouse, France. The article presents statistical analysis and mitigation techniques for networks operating in burst error environments. These have been subsequently employed in test and validation of robot controllers, extended operating modes for the TT-CAN protocol. The transmission window technique developed and presented in this article has been used in dependable embedded systems developed with industry and has been prototyped in hardware as a newly proposed protocol controller for CAN networks.
