- The work was sponsored by 2 companies in Italy. Dust release from vibrating machinery in industry is a major problem in mineral and chemical processing. This research resulted in a new dimensionless dust release parameter, for use to predict the level of problem that a new process or a process with a changed material, is likely to face. The results were used by the company to redesign their equipment to minimise the dust generation during particulate material handling, making a big improvement to the working environment for workers and also reduced dust nuisance to neighbours.
