- We developed a rigorous quality control method for hourly gauged rainfall data and a gridded hourly rainfall dataset for the UK. It is the only gridded hourly gauge based product for the UK. A NERC knowledge exchange grant funded CEH to maintain and update the dataset (NE/K00896X/1). The dataset is freely available to all so that it can become the new standard national hourly product. It was used to assess the UKCP18 climate models (Elizabeth.kendon@metoffice.gov.uk) and for studying atmospheric precursors to intense summer rainfall (http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~sgs02rpa/PAPERS/Allan19IJOC.pdf)
