- The above paper was the part of a larger number of projects, that included a PhD, and several other publications, including conference and journal papers. Whilst the initial research was more focused on automotive applications, more recently other applications, including wind-turbines, have also been investigated. Outputs from this paper were used as the basis for the construction of a prototype model, with the developer of this prototype winning the prestigious Science, Engineering and Technology award for Mechanical Engineering. The design developed in this paper was also awarded an international patent (patent number WO 2015/028797 Al) in 2015.
