- The work in this paper is a collaboration with Professor F. Scarpa (University of Bristol), and arises from a previous collaboration with Dr M. Haberman (The University of Texas at Austin, USA), developing negative mechanical metamaterials for vibration damping applications. The work received funding from the US Army Research Office and formed a major component of the successful PhD completion by co-author Dr T. Hewage. Over 100 citations in Scopus in 4 years since publication demonstrate this work is agenda setting in the mechanical metamaterials field.
