- The paper studies distributed load balancing and improves upon the long-standing results of Rabani et al. (FOCS 98). Its improvements are based on introduction of the notion of cumulatively fair load-balancing algorithms. The paper proved that this broad class of algorithms performs extremely well, outperforming the algorithms considered by Rabani by a factor that can be linear in the number of nodes, depending on the graph. Preliminary results were presented at PODC 15.
