- As one of the founding Builders of RAVE (the RAdial Velocity Experiment), Gibson has been responsible for defining the target selection required to deliver upon the science goal of measuring the mass and escape speed of the Galaxy. His contributions included an expansive cross-correlation analysis of stars drawn from Tycho2 and SuperCosmos plates, and optimising fibre allocations for the 6dF robotic spectrograph, ensuring both sky coverage and fibre collision avoidance.
