- This 224pp. monograph shows sustained research effort though an original in-depth study of melodrama and the operatic in post-war Italian cinema. This longer-form output of three extended chapters (each of 25,000 words) examines over 150 feature-length films and was dependent on an extended seven-year period of research. This process involved the collection and analysis of over 200 printed sources in Italian and English, including sources in Italian film archives in Bologna, Turin, and Rome that were difficult to access, as well as archival sources held at the BFI.
