- McMahon was responsible for conception, design, organisation of the study. They were PI of the ESO NTT spectroscopic observations and the VISTA Hemisphere Survey datasets used in the paper. The first author, Sophie Reed, was their PhD student and McMahon supervised the analysis, interpretation of the data and the development of new methods of data analysis presented in this paper. They were closely involved in every stage of the writing of the paper.
