- The monograph is based on a substantial data set, collected in the UK, Germany, Russia and the United States as part of an AHRC Research Fellowship. Sixteen outstanding reviews all refer to the wide scope of data and analysis, e.g.: ‘the scope of this study is breath-taking’ (H-Nationalism); ‘the range of research is quite extraordinary’ (Journal of European Studies); ‘covers an enormous amount of ground’ (CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title); ‘Manz’ task was colossal’ (Max Kade Institute Newsletter); ‘impresses with the scope and detail of its research’ (H-Transnational German Studies); ‘pioneering global approach’ (Bulletin of the German Historical Institute London).
