- This 240-page monograph investigates how social media is transforming narratives about death and mourning. It is the result of three years of sustained research involving the collection and analysis of a large body of digital material gathered across multiple platforms. The primary sources (online social media) are widely dispersed and disaggregated and have required considerable research time and effort to assemble, quantify and analyse. By applying sophisticated narrative theory in a sustained manner to such a large body of hitherto unexplored primary material, this monograph illuminates an entirely new area of study from a range of interdisciplinary perspectives.
