- This book draws on research conducted over four years supported by participation in two AHRC networks (‘iSay’ and ‘Silence, Memory and Empathy’). It features analysis of 20 museum case study sites across 3 social networks (Twitter, Facebook and Youtube), the analysis of 120 digital stories, and observational research of screen-based interactions at nine museums. It weaves together theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches from new media studies, cultural studies and museum studies. It was the first empirical study to explore the myriad ways museums and their users negotiate a range of participatory media forms and remains the most comprehensive.
