- An investigation of the video game development process in Italy from 2015-2019, to identify the economic, professional and institutional peculiarities of the national industry. It focuses on production workflow and strategies adopted to finance game development and developer-distributor relationships. The aim is to illustrate the struggle of the national game industry in the context of internationalised marketing and distribution trends. The research suggests what support national developers need to overcome an impasse perceived as insurmountable, especially in the light of the recent pandemic event which undermines small and medium businesses.
