- This single authored monograph represents a significant body of research and sustained effort conducted over several years. Using extensive primary sources and empirical data, combined with historical context to present an in-depth study of social and economic transformation in North Korea since 1961, it presents a critical insight into life in North Korea. A key reference point for the field, providing insights into the politics, economy and society of North Korea, and contributing to changing people’s mind-set on North Korea. This work has subsequently informed policy formation for UN discussions of human rights, and government policy makers on North Korea.
