- Double-weighted statement
- This volume analyses the development of UK public parks and urban leisure spaces by adding to existing research on parks in London and the south of England through analysing mostly northern cities not hitherto the subject of academic research. It also provides detailed evidence of a range of topics not researched before its publication, such as sexual crime and deviance in public parks and the role of park employees. The research underpinning the volume involved extensive archival work over a 6-year period, drawing on a large body of committee minutes, often spanning 30-40 volumes per city case.
