- This book demonstrates results of a sustained (2011 – 2019) research effort to develop the idea of Contextual Safeguarding: a novel approach to protecting adolescents abused in extra-familial contexts. It presents the combined findings of five large-scale projects through which the idea was conceived (through case file analysis), converted into an operational framework (through action research), underwent initial testing, and was scaled to sites across the UK using embedded research methods. The author presents this extended process, and analyses the multi-layered body of material it produced, to provide critical insight into theoretical, legislative, ethical, and practical implications of the approach
