- This study describes a geospatial analysis plug-in implemented in a Sport Wales funded project which permits a wider understanding of spatial inequalities in sporting infrastructure provision. This is being used by national sports governing bodies (NGBs) such as Welsh Gymnastics to assess gaps in current provision and guide further investment in sport facilities to ensure spatial and social equity in access to sporting opportunities. This interdisciplinary research was instrumental in securing funding under the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS II) scheme to further develop open source web-based tools to provide multi-modal accessibility models of access to sporting infrastructure.
