- Shell-Shocked British Army Veterans represents the culmination of an extended programme of research. The book is 97,537 words in length, and was sole-authored by Dr Michael Robinson. It draws on the collection and analysis of a large body of archival and library research, undertaken over a period of eight years, in libraries and archives in England, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Primary sources included the administrative files of the Ministry of Pensions and highly sensitive war hospital/asylum patient casebook records.
