- The sequence of authorship of the paper is alphabetical and does not reflect the share of work contributed by each author. Both authors equally contributed to this article: the development of the research design, data collection and writing up of the findings were a collaboration. Courtois took the lead in the data analysis, while Verdegem led the development of the theoretical framework (the paper builds on earlier research of this author) and the development of the measurement instrument. After a first round of data analysis, the two authors jointly worked on the model development and wrote up a first version of the different parts of the article. The discussion section was co-written and marks an equal contribution of the two authors. The writing and revising of the manuscript were conducted in different iterations until submission.
