- Additional information
- This additional information statement relates to a four-author, co-written monograph, Florence Nightingale at Home, and the author contribution of Memel. It is a major publication of 263 pages and 9 chapters. It is being submitted as a whole, in the form of a single-count monograph, in order to reflect its value as one integrated and coherent item rather than as separate and smaller parts. The volume derives from the AHRC-funded project ‘Florence Nightingale Comes Home’ (2017-2021), and embodies scale and scope, complex and multi-level investigation of a large body of sources, wide-ranging presentation and representation of historical material, and development of extended critical insights. Memel, as a project Research Fellow, undertook a substantial period of study of rarely consulted sources. The monograph as a whole draws on this underpinning archival research throughout its 7 core chapters, and introduction and conclusion. To distinguish this book from the format of an edited collection, this monograph was written in a unified voice that combined the styles and perspectives of each of the four authors. Nonetheless, team members acted as lead researchers and authors on particular chapters. Memel was the lead with responsibility for two chapters, ‘Health at Home’ and ‘Home Front’, chapters 4 and 6 respectively. This included the majority of the substantial analysis of primary and secondary source material contained in these two sections of the book, and the initial drafting of the text.
