- Friedrich designed and coordinated the efforts of the DES team to validate their model of their statistical uncertainties (i.e. their covariance matrix model). This included organising teleconferences, coordinating and aiding the creation of mock data sets suitable for covariance tests, providing numerical tools for the use of this mock data, performing tests for covariance validation. Friedrich worked 75% of his time on this for ~8 months (December 2016 - incl. July 2017). They also contributed to the writing of the manuscript and to the preparation of figures 2 & 3.
