- This paper deals with the synthesis and reactivity of a relatively novel stabilised phosphonium ylides containing tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran or 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane rings. There is one single previously reported example. This paper is significant because the authors discovered that flash vacuum pyrolysis allow novel acetylenic carbohydrate derivatives to be accessed for application in a variety of fields including pharmaceutical and agrochemicals. This discovery has wide potential benefits as a building block for several industries. This paper has been deposited with the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre. The experiments are based on open access data-sets which can be repeated and verified by other researchers.
